Danio Janeke was born in 1983 and grew up on a farm in the Free State. He has been passionate about food and art from a very young age.

He received his chef diploma from Olive Chef School in 2005.  After finishing his chef diploma, he was accepted at the Department of Design and Studio Art at the Central University of Technology, Bloemfontein in 2008. He graduated from the University with his diploma in Fine Arts in 2010. As a lecturer in Fine Arts at the CUT's Department of Design and Studio Art for the past nine years, Danio specialises in ceramics, sculpture and painting. He has also been offering private fine art classes since 2012.

As part of the new curriculum development, Danio was responsible for developing and facilitating the creative personal journal module, also known as CPJ, along with lecturing in fashion drawing and mixed media painting, just to name a few.

He was also selected as one of the top 75 artists that featured in the 2011 Absa L’ Attelier exhibition. In 2012, he was rewarded the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Award for community service. Danio received his B.Tech degree in 2014 from the CUT. Some of his art pieces that served as the practical component of his B.Tech degree were also selected to go on international tour with well renowned artist, Gordon Fraud.
